Welcome America, Inc. is a 501c3, non-profit organization in a public-private partnership with the City of Philadelphia which seeks to enhance the resident and visitor experience through citywide events that provide an economic boost to the local economy. Welcome America, Inc. also produces and assists in the growth of select city events year-round that can increase awareness of Philadelphia as an event destination.

Manager of Sponsor Relations

Job Summary

The Manager of Sponsor Relations will be responsible for creating, implementing and managing corporate partnerships for live events in order to cultivate and grow the festival sponsorship program. Candidate should be a self-starter with sales and marketing experience. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Sponsorships and Community Impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team and bring your creativity and drive to create new experiences and growth within the events produced by Welcome America, Inc., including but not limited to Wawa Welcome America and Philly Holiday Experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain partner relationships through renewal or customized sponsorship opportunities
  • Research and identify industry trends to evaluate new opportunities to increase and diversify sellable assets
  • Ability to create and pitch customized sales presentations to potential partners
  • Create quarterly partnership newsletter for new and existing partners
  • Manage partner contract benefits from concept to completion by working closely with festival marketing and production teams to communicate partner needs and deliverables
  • Support management of sponsorship collection and fulfillment costs
  • Deliver upon sales goals as defined by the Vice President of Sponsorships and Community Impact


  • Minimum of 3 years of marketing or sales experience
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining partner relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and guidance
  • Ability to work in a faced paced, high stress live events environment
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration among team
  • Job requires nights and weekends during festival timeframe

Welcome America Inc. Spring & Summer Internships 

The 2022 internship program will be conducted in a hybrid environment, including both work from home and in-person opportunities. Students must be willing to partake in video conferences and have accessibility to video conference programs such as, Google Meet, Zoom, Skype and Microsoft Teams. Students may choose to attend any in person meeting at their own discretion and in adherence with Welcome America’s team member health and safety protocols. Students must be available to work in person the length of the festival (June 19 through July 4).

Welcome America, Inc. provides students a rare opportunity for real-world experience in a high-profile citywide event. We seek self-starters who are creative, ambitious, hard-working, energetic, diverse and proud to produce Philadelphia’s July 4th celebration. Each internship position will have a defined role, goals to be achieved, and with supervisory support to enable each intern to leave with a sense of accomplishment, new skills, real-life experience, and the opportunity to be a part of a large-scale multi-day festival. Interns play a vital role in the organization. They are given the chance to contribute their ideas, play an active role in their duties, and to work in a team setting. Great networking opportunity for interns looking for a future job in events, marketing, communications, and sponsorships. Our successful interns have gone on to paid, professional positions.

The Welcome America, Inc. spring and summer interns will work closely with each team member, including the executive team, gaining experience in Events, Marketing, Communications and Sponsorships. This internship is unpaid; however, students may receive course credit or industry hours for the completed internship program and can work directly with their internship supervisor on completing all necessary paperwork. The internship program will require approximately 20-25 hours a week and will require some nights and weekends for events.

Internship Opportunities Include:

Marketing & PR

  • Content management for website and social media, including sponsorship fulfillment and event promotion
  • Content development, including copy writing and basic graphic design, for website, social media and e-mail marketing
  • PR support, including writing media alerts, press conference planning and executing, press coverage tracking, assisting with media credential application process, and coordinating media relations on-site
  • Event promotion, including brochure distribution, community outreach and virtual or on-site promotion
  • Research, including questionnaire creation, on-site surveying, digital surveying and data analytics
  • General festival support and other duties as assigned

Sponsorship & Partnerships

  • Assist with drafting pitches for potentials sponsors of the festival
  • Attend partnership meetings with the Director of Partnerships
  • Assist with sponsor fulfillment & recap presentations
  • Collaborate with marketing department on sponsorship marketing deliverables
  • Virtual or On-site sponsorship logistics support of festival events
  • Track sponsorship fulfillment on marketing channels, including website, social media and e-mail marketing
  • General festival support and other duties as assigned
  • Interested candidates should have a focus in sales and partnerships or event logistics

Event Production

  • Assist with event programming, logistics and production
  • Virtual or On-site event support
  • General festival support and other duties as assigned


  • Available to work the length of the festival (June 19 through July 4)
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • A positive attitude and team mentality.


  • Must be detail oriented, creative and organized.
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of best practices for social media marketing for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Understanding of reporting and analytics.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Some jobs may require the ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Photography and/or video skills a plus.
  • Camera and/or video equipment a plus.
