Set along Philadelphia’s iconic waterfront, this immersive experience brings to life pivotal moments of history and tells the stories of influential individuals through diverse voices. Artists from Olive Dance Theatre and We The People Stage will use spoken word, dance, and song to portray personal and historical stories rooted in passionate expressions of freedom. Guests will be invited to be part of the performance by joining the storytelling stage hosted by Emmy-Award Winning content creator Thomas C. Knox. This event features DJs, food trucks, live artistic performances, and interactive activities, with a grand fireworks finale!

“Having been born and raised here, I know this area is bursting with entertainment! There’s so much to do and see, from music and food to sports and events, we’ve got it all,” said Aunyea.

Aunyea joined NBC10 in July 2019 and enjoys showing viewers the amazing, hidden gems our region has to offer. During her time at NBC10, she has covered a variety of subjects, from highlighting local businesses and owners during the Coronavirus pandemic, to interviewing sports legend Billie Jean King, and Philly’s own music legend Patti Labelle. Aunyea enjoys highlighting the work of local non-profits and community groups who she believes are the true champions of the city.

Prior to joining NBC10, Aunyea worked as a community affairs coordinator, programming producer and digital reporter at WPVI. 

A native of Northeast Philadelphia, Aunyea earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from West Chester University. She is a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and is passionate about women’s rights, equality, and access to education.

When she is not reporting, Aunyea enjoys spending time with family and friends, keeping up with the latest celebrity news and trending topics, listening to music and even writing her own songs now and then

Candelaria Beatty

Winner, I Am College Bound Spoken Word Contest

 

Born and raised in Germantown, Candelaria is a rising sophomore at Masterman High School, a devoted ballet dancer, and a lover of poetry. She was excited to enter the contest to reflect on her own motivations and challenge herself to write and perform a passionate piece. Isabel Rose Catalan

Finalist, I Am College Bound Spoken Word Performance

Isabel Rose Catalan is a Philly born and raised aspiring writer and artist. She majored in Creative Writing at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and will continue to do so at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts starting this fall. Winner, Great Things Are Happening in Philadelphia Video Challenge

Teyanna grew up loving all forms of entertainment. Her first love is music, but she loves creating stories and worlds through film, video, and theater. Teyanna attended Central High School and will be graduating in May of 2021 from Temple University, having studied media production, theater, and music.
