Programming

Philadelphia Union

Soccer games! – The Philadelphia Union is an innovative, forward-thinking professional soccer club competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of Philadelphia’s five major league sports teams.

The Franklin Institute

Outer space & science experiments! – In the spirit of inquiry and discovery embodied by Benjamin Franklin, the mission of The Franklin Institute is to inspire a passion for learning about science and technology. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, The Franklin Institute is a renowned and innovative leader in science and technology learning and a dynamic center of activity.

Penn Museum

Architectural history! Home to over a million extraordinary artifacts and archaeological finds from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Mediterranean, the Penn Museum has been uncovering our shared humanity across continents and millennia since 1887. In bridging archaeology, the study of objects made by humans, with anthropology, the science of humanity, we chart a course for finding one’s own place in the arc of human history.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Arts & crafts! The Art Kids Studio is where families can invent and experiment in a relaxed setting. Long tables with art-making supplies will aid artists of all ages to create work out of various materials, with works in the collection as their guiding inspiration. Art Kids summer programming kicks off June 24 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, offering families unique hands-on activities in a comfortable, playful, and imaginative setting through August 28. Enjoy art making in the Art Kids Studio, pop-up tours throughout the day, quiet mornings for sensory-friendly activities, and art activities on Friday Nights

Penn Food and Wellness Collaborative

Gardening! The Penn Food and Wellness Collaborative is a joint initiative that brings together partners from across the Penn community to improve food security, wellness and food systems education on campus. It is also home to the Penn Park Farm and Orchard!

Museum of Illusions

Mechanics of Illusion! Enter the wonderful world of illusions where you can truly experience the impossible. Illusions challenge us to see things differently and they reveal a lot about how our brain interprets reality. The Museum of Illusions Philadelphia is like no place you’ve been before. We are a one-of-a-kind edutainment destination where you can immerse yourself in the wonderful world of illusions!

Philadelphia Insectarium & Butterfly Pavilion

Insects & pollinators! Philadelphia’s newest science museum showcases one of the most diverse living arthropod collections in the United States. With two floors of new museum exhibits, a 7,000 square foot tropical butterfly pavilion, and Next Generation aligned educational programming, we offer a unique and interactive experience for all to enjoy.

West Powelton Steppers & Sixers Stixers

Half-time show! West Powelton was formed 25 years ago when Elsie Wise of the West Powelton Concerned Community Council strapped a couple drums onto girls from the neighborhood and the West Powelton Steppers were born. We continue in this tradition of community work in the West Powelton area as well as in urban areas up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Through parades, block parties, processions, and drum master classes we give youth hungry to learn that Philly sound and beat opportunities to learn invaluable skills on and off the drums.

Musicopia

Bucket drumming! Drummer Leon Jordan explores one of the most intuitive forms of music making: percussion.  Spanning genres including jazz, Caribbean, traditional classical, and current pop, this highly interactive program presents many types of rhythms, techniques, percussion instruments, as well as historical and cultural contexts.  This interactive workshop engages students in the expansive and inspiring experience of bucket drumming and playing percussion.

The Free Library of Philadelphia

Pop-up readings! The mission of the Free Library of Philadelphia is to advance literacy, guide learning, and inspire curiosity. Its vision is to build an enlightened community devoted to lifelong learning.

Short Édition

Print your own story! Short Édition is a French publishing house of short literature: poetry, short stories, and flash fiction. In addition to our online platform, we publish fiction around the world via our Short Story Dispensers for the public to enjoy a serendipitous literary experience, free of charge. What better way to overcome those little moments of boredom or enforced waiting in your daily life—at work, on the bus, in the waiting room, or in the peace and quiet of your own home.

Books in Homes USA

Book giveaway! Books In Homes USA launched with the driving purpose to end “booklessness” and make a profound impact on the trajectories of our most vulnerable members, children living in under resourced communities, by inspiring a love of reading and establishing a foundation of success. By forging partnerships with individuals, corporations, and foundations, we afford children opportunities to build their very own home libraries with brand-new books that they’ve selected to own and enjoy.

Be sure to check in with PA Turnpike for a chance to win access to the front section of the July 4th Concert via the E-ZPass Fast Pass!
